Design Reflection

This project strengthened my ability to translate accessibility principles into practical design decisions rather than treating accessibility as a final compliance check. Developing the module reinforced the importance of modeling accessible practices within the learning experience itself and giving learners opportunities to evaluate, revise, and apply those practices in realistic workplace materials.

Project Summary

A graduate instructional design project focused on helping workplace learning professionals recognize common accessibility barriers and apply inclusive design practices when developing digital learning materials.

Project Snapshot

  • Role: Instructional Designer & Developer

  • Audience: Workplace learning professionals

  • Project Type: Interactive eLearning / LMS learning experience

  • Delivery: Self-paced web-based course; original version deployed as SCORM through TalentLMS

  • Tools: Articulate Rise 360, Articulate Storyline 360, Camtasia, Canva, TalentLMS

Design Approach

  • Applied learning centered on identifying and correcting accessibility barriers

  • Before-and-after examples to make accessibility principles concrete

  • Multimedia instruction combining demonstration, practice, and supporting resources

  • Accessible design practices modeled throughout the learning experience

Key Design Decisions

  • Realistic workplace materials moved accessibility concepts into practical application

  • Interactive evaluation activities required learners to identify barriers rather than only read about them

  • Video demonstration modeled how accessibility improvements can be applied during development

  • Downloadable toolkit extended learning beyond the module as an on-the-job reference

  • SCORM-based deployment enabled the original Storyline course to be delivered through TalentLMS.

  • Web-based redevelopment in Rise 360 provided persistent portfolio access while preserving the core instruction, embedded Storyline challenge, video demonstration, and performance-support resource.
