Effective Cross-Team Communication in Remote Work

Purpose & Context

As organizations increasingly operate in remote and hybrid environments, communication breakdowns across teams have become a common performance challenge. This course was created as a scalable microlearning solution to support clarity, alignment, and respectful collaboration—without adding meeting fatigue or unnecessary complexity.

The design prioritizes just-in-time learning, allowing employees to quickly reference strategies and apply them immediately in their daily work.

Design Approach

• Microlearning format designed for quick consumption and immediate application

• Scenario-based practice to reinforce decision-making in realistic workplace situations

• Performance support focus through checklists and “Do This / Avoid This” guidance

• Minimal animation and clean layout to reduce cognitive load and maintain focus

• Mobile-friendly design to support flexible, on-the-job access

Key Design Decisions

• Articulate Rise was selected to support rapid development, responsive design, and easy scalability across teams

• Scenario interactions were used instead of lengthy content blocks to promote transfer of learning

• Asynchronous communication strategies were emphasized to reflect real remote-work conditions

• Checklist-based job aid was included to extend learning beyond the course and support sustained behavior change

Impact & Reflection

This project strengthened my ability to design concise, performance-focused learning experiences that address real workplace challenges. It reinforced the value of pairing scenario-based learning with practical job aids to support behavior change—particularly in distributed work environments where clarity and alignment are critical. This project demonstrates my ability to design practical, scalable learning solutions that directly support workplace performance in distributed environments.
